Unlike traditional rigid insulation, which is often damaged during removal and rarely reused, our removable blanket for straight piping offers a durable, practical alternative. With rigid systems, it’s common for jacketing to become bent, punctured, or corroded, especially in outdoor or washdown environments. If moisture penetrates, the insulation becomes compromised, leading to reduced thermal performance and even corrosion under insulation (CUI). Our sewn, reusable blanket solves this by allowing clean removal and reinstallation—without breaking, bending, or waterlogging. This results in fewer replacements, reduced maintenance costs, and longer system life, all while maintaining consistent energy efficiency and safety.

Construction Details
This Removable soft pads will consist of a 1” thick Alpha Temp-Mat insulation with a nominal density of 11 lb/ft³, composed of 100% E-glass fibers mechanically needled without chemical binders. This insulation is rated for continuous service up to 1200°F (649°C) and complies with ASTM C-1086-96, MIL-I-16411 Type II, and ASTM E-84 flame resistance standards (Flame Spread: 0, Smoke Developed: 0).
 
The insulation is covered on both the inner and outer layers with Alpha Maritex Style 1700-S fiberglass fabric, a satin-weave fiberglass coated with gray dry silicone rubber. This fabric is flame retardant, flexible, UV resistant, and performs in temperatures ranging from -67°F to +500°F (-55°C to +260°C).
 
Blankets are stitched using PTFE-coated fiberglass sewing thread, which does not burn or support combustion, and is rated for -400°F to +600°F (-240°C to +315°C). These threads are also resistant to moisture, acids, alkalis, and fungal growth.
 
Each blanket includes a hook-and-loop Velcro fastening system, plus adjustable straps made from the same silicone-coated fiberglass fabric, secured with metal D-rings for added durability.
